Typhoon Merbok and other Alaska Flooding events

  • Provided guidance in recovery to the communities of Kipnuk, Kwigillingok, Nightmute, Stebbbins, St. Michael, and Toksook Bay. Accomplished this by supporting tribal nations communicate their needs, objectives, and priorities for recovery. This has meant coordinating post-disaster recovery resources to support restoration, rebuilding, and revitalization across all sectors of tribal nations, and localities.

  • Identified resources that support unmet recovery needs and objectives by assisting Kipnuk, Kwigillingok, Nightmute, Stebbbins, St. Michael, and Toksook Bays navigate and sequence interagency programs; and

  • Provide technical assistance to ensure equitable access to recovery resources.

  • Provide planning and data analysis assistance to tribal nations, and local communities to support risk-informed strategic decision-making.

 

Monterey County Long-Term Recovery

California Winter Storms

  • Provided guidance to the local government of Monterey County in defining their recovery outcomes by assisting them in crafting a Long-Term Recovery Plan after the winter storms.

  • Reviewed County land use and other planning documentation, assisted with gathering historical data from previous disasters from the U.S. Census Bureau (USCB), Comprehensive Housing Affordability Strategy, and Government Assistance; and reviewed the details of the long-term recovery projects.

  • Facilitated discussions with Cal OES and other stakeholders in researching the technical and policy requirements for a plan that proposed strategies to rebuild the community, enhance resilience, and minimize future risks. County leaders successfully completed and gained County approval for the plan.

  • Provided guidance and technical assistance to Hoopa Valley Tribe as they developed their first ever Emergency Operations Plan (EOP). I researched and provided Tribal leaders with information on grants applicable to fire prevention and recovery, plus created a template for the EOP.
